BAGHDAD, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Iraq opened the 13th Security, Defense, Military Industries and Cybersecurity Exhibition on Saturday in the capital city of Baghdad.

The exhibition, with the participation of 155 companies worldwide, was inaugurated by Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, according to a statement by al-Sudani's media office.

The exhibition serves as a platform for showcasing the latest innovations and technologies in the fields of defense and cybersecurity, as well as advanced solutions in communications, surveillance systems, and police equipment, the statement said.

"The event aims to enhance Iraq's defense capabilities, open new avenues for international security cooperation, promote institutional knowledge exchange, and support the development of the national defense industry," it added.

During his speech at the exhibition, which continues until April 22, al-Sudani emphasized the importance of making the exhibition an effective platform for scientific and technological partnerships between the Iraqi industrial sector and participating companies, the statement noted.
