KABUL, April 12 (Xinhua) -- A man accused of kidnapping a woman and her child from western Afghanistan's Herat province was killed in the southern Helmand province on Friday, said a statement of the provincial police office on Saturday.
Tracking down the alleged kidnapper, police personnel cordoned off him in a place in Nad Alid district and ordered him to surrender, but he refused and killed himself by detonating a hand grenade, the statement added.
Without providing more details, the statement noted that police won't allow anyone to take the law in hand or create law and order problems in society. ■
