KABUL, April 5 (Xinhua) -- At least four commuters lost their lives and two others sustained injuries in a road accident in north Afghanistan's Baghlan province, a local official reported late Friday.
The mishap took place on the outskirts of the province's Nahrin district after a passenger vehicle veered off the road and fell into a ravine, killing four passengers, including two women on the spot and injuring two others, said Mawlawi Shabir Ahmad Burhani, the provincial police spokesman.
The official blamed reckless driving and dilapidated roads for the incident, saying the injured passengers were taken to a local health center in neighboring Kunduz province.
In a similar incident, a car in northern Jawzjan province turned turtle on the same day, killing four people.
Poor conditions on roads, reckless driving and lack of security measures are among the causes of deadly road accidents in the war-ravaged country. ■
