TOKYO, April 1 (Xinhua) -- Japan's nationwide unemployment rate in February stood at 2.4 percent, falling by 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications showed Tuesday.
After adjusting for seasonal factors, the data marked the first improvement in five months.
The number of employed individuals reached 67.68 million, marking an increase of 400,000 compared to the same month last year and extending a 31-month streak of continuous growth.
By industry, employment in medical and welfare services increased by 230,000, while accommodation and food services saw a rise of 210,000.
Meanwhile, the total number of unemployed individuals decreased by 120,000 year-on-year to 1.65 million. ■
