SANAA, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and a child was wounded in U.S. airstrikes on Yemen's northwestern province of Hajjah on Monday, the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported.
Two U.S. airstrikes targeted the southern district of Bani Qa'is in the morning, the television station said. No further details were provided by the Houthi channel regarding the damage.
On Sunday, U.S. airstrikes killed at least one person and injured five others in the Jadir area north of the capital, Sanaa, according to Houthi-controlled health authorities.
Tensions between the Houthis and the U.S. military have escalated since Washington launched fresh airstrikes on Yemen on March 15. The strikes followed Houthi threats to resume attacks on Israeli targets unless humanitarian aid was allowed into the Gaza Strip and the siege on the enclave was lifted.
The Houthis have controlled much of northern Yemen, including Sanaa, since the onset of their fight against the internationally recognized government in 2014. ■
