COLOMBO, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The Sri Lankan government will launch a nationwide initiative for nutritious and sufficient meals at reasonable prices, according to the President's Media Division.
The program will be implemented with the collaboration of the National Food Promotion Board, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation, and the first model restaurant under the initiative is scheduled to be operational on April 1 in Narahenpita, a municipal ward of Colombo.
The government also intends to improve the standards of existing restaurants.
Officials emphasized the importance of protecting the public's right to safe and nutritious food. ■
