ISLAMABAD, March 27 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and 21 others, including several policemen, were injured in a bomb attack on a police vehicle in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Thursday, the police and health officials said.

The incident happened in the provincial capital of Quetta, and several of the wounded people are in critical condition, Waseem Baig, media coordinator of the provincial health ministry, told Xinhua.

The explosion occurred when an improvised explosive device exploded near the vehicle of the police personnel conducting routine patrols in a busy market area, the police said.

Following the blast, the police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation in the surrounding area to arrest the culprits.

No group has claimed the attack yet.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the terrorist attack, expressing his deep grief and sorrow over the loss of lives.
