KABUL, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Five people were killed after their vehicle veered off the road and turned turtle in northern Afghanistan's Takhar province, state-owned Bakhtar News Agency reported Wednesday.
The mishap happened Tuesday night after a Land Cruiser turned turtle due to reckless driving in the Shaikh Rabat region, Farkhar district of the province, Bakhtar quoted Qari Zabihullah Hakimi, provincial police spokesman, as saying.
Security forces have shifted the deceased to a nearby health center, said Hakimi.
Similarly, four people lost their lives and six others sustained injuries in two separate road accidents in eastern Wardak and Ghazni provinces a couple of days ago.
Road accidents due to reckless driving on congested roads and lack of traffic signs on dilapidated highways are leading causes of death in the war-ravaged country. ■
