TOKYO, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and visiting Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva held talks on Wednesday, pledging to deepen collaboration in areas such as climate change and digitalization.

Attending an economic forum, Ishiba described Brazil as a reliable partner in the fight against climate change and highlighted the synergy between Brazil's biofuels and Japan's advanced mobility technology as key to achieving carbon neutrality.

He reaffirmed Japan's commitment to supporting Brazil's high-quality biofuels in contributing to global decarbonization efforts.

President Lula expressed his hope for further economic cooperation with Japan, calling for more cooperative relationships between Japanese and Brazilian companies for joint growth.

The governments and companies of Japan and Brazil signed about 80 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) on Wednesday for cooperation in areas such as decarbonization and digitalization, Nikkei reported.
