MIAMI, March 22 (Xinhua) -- China's Jiang Xinyu and Chinese Taipei's Wu Fang-Hsien reached the last 16 of the women's doubles at the Miami Open on Saturday with a 6-3, 7-5 win over American Asia Muhammad and Demi Schuurs of the Netherlands.
Jiang and Wu won 71 percent of points on their first serve and saved six of eight break points to take the match in an hour and 22 minutes.
Muhammad and Schuurs won just 60 percent of their first serve points and converted only two of eight break point opportunities.
The result means that Jiang and Wu will meet American pair Danielle Collins and Desirae Krawczyk in the last 16.
Earlier, China's Zhang Shuai and Elise Mertens of Belgium recovered from a set down to beat Romanian Monica Niculescu and Poland's Katarzyna Piter.
Seventh-seeded pair Zhang and Mertens won 65 percent of points on their first serve and converted five of seven break points to prevail 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 in an hour and 34 minutes.
Niculescu and Piter committed three double faults and won less than 55 percent of their overall service points.
Zhang and Mertens will meet Timea Babos of Hungary and Brazil's Luisa Stefani in the round of 16 on Sunday. ■
