RIO DE JANEIRO, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Beraldo was among four players added to Brazil's squad on Friday for the team's World Cup qualifier against Argentina.
Brazil manager Dorival Junior also called up Palmeiras goalkeeper Weverton, Wolverhampton midfielder Joao Gomes and Atalanta midfielder Ederson for next Tuesday's clash at Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.
They replace midfielder Gerson, defender Gabriel Magalhaes, goalkeeper Alisson and midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. Gerson has a thigh injury, Alisson is recovering from a concussion while Magalhaes and Guimaraes are suspended.
Brazil is currently third in the 10-team South American qualifying group with 21 points from 13 games, four points behind leader Argentina.
The top six teams will automatically qualify for next year's World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, while the seventh-ranked side will advance to an intercontinental playoff. ■
