BRATISLAVA, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Five people, including four children, died in an overnight fire in eastern Slovakia, local media reported Thursday.
The fire broke out Wednesday night in a settlement in the town of Velky Saris, near Presov city, the News Agency of the Slovak Republic reported.
"They were small children. The oldest was four years old," Velky Saris's mayor Viliam Kall told the news agency, adding that about eight dwellings burnt to the ground.
According to the mayor, around 30 people were affected by the fire. The town has declared a state of emergency. ■
