RAMALLAH, March 19 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian man was shot dead early Wednesday as Israeli forces raided Nablus in the northern West Bank, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
Israeli special forces entered the al-Ain camp west of the city and opened fire on a vehicle, killing a young man nearby, WAFA said.
Several others were wounded and detained as Israeli forces carried out operations in the al-Ain, Balata, and Askar refugee camps, it added.
The Israeli military has not commented on the incident.
Israel frequently describes such operations in the West Bank as counter-terrorism measures aimed at militants.
WAFA also reported that Israeli forces extended their operations in Tulkarm and its refugee camp for the 52nd consecutive day, and in the Nur Shams camp for the 39th day, with intensified raids and demolitions.
Meanwhile, in Jenin, Israeli forces continued operations for the 58th day, with heavy gunfire and explosions heard from inside the refugee camp, WAFA said.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a Jan. 21 statement that IDF troops, the Israeli Security Agency, and Border Police had launched a "counter-terrorism operation" in Jenin. ■
