JAKARTA, March 19 (Xinhua) -- PT Freeport Indonesia has secured a permit from the Trade Ministry to export 1.4 million wet metric tons of copper concentrate over the next six months, according to local media reports on Wednesday.
Andri Gilang Nugraha Ansari, director of export of industrial and mining products at the directorate general of foreign trade under the Trade Ministry, said that the export permit took effect immediately after its issuance on Monday.
He explained that the permit was issued based on a recommendation from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM).
"The export permit is valid for six months, and the volume aligns with the ESDM's recommendation of 1.4 million wet metric tons," Ansari said.
To ensure smooth shipments, PT Freeport Indonesia has prepared 12 ships, with an estimated 150,000 to 200,000 wet metric tons of copper concentrate expected to be exported each month. ■
