ISLAMABAD, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's textile exports surged by 9.3 percent in the first eight months of the current fiscal year starting from July 2024 to June 2025, compared to the same period of the last fiscal year, officials said on Tuesday.

The textile exports were recorded at 12,183.729 million U.S. dollars in July-February of the ongoing fiscal year, compared with 11,145.647 million dollars in July-January of fiscal year 2023-24, the officials from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said.

On a year-on-year basis, textile exports witnessed a slight growth of 0.44 percent in February 2025 to 1,413.262 million dollars, compared with 1,407.105 million dollars in February 2024, according to the PBS.

On the other hand, on a month-on-month basis, textile exports declined by 16.17 percent in February 2025 when compared to the exports of 1,685.905 million dollars in January 2025.

The PBS said that cotton cloth, knitwear, bedwear, towels, readymade garments, tents, canvas, and tarpaulins were among the commodities that contributed to the trade growth in the textile sector.
