BISHKEK, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan has developed a state program for active longevity for 2025-2030, the press service of the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of the country reported on Monday.

The ministry said that the state program has been submitted for public discussion. It is designed to improve the quality of life of older citizens, to help them gain greater independence, to increase the healthy life expectancy of the population, to improve the social and psychological well-being of older citizens, to expand their opportunities for participation in various spheres of society and to improve the socio-economic situation in the country.

The document states that the average life expectancy in Kyrgyzstan is 70 years. The average life expectancy for women is 74.2 years while that for men is 66. Gender imbalance is observed at about 40 years, and at ages over 80, the number of women is almost 2 times more than the number of men.

The life expectancy of Kyrgyzstanis will gradually increase. By 2030, life expectancy for men will increase to 69.8 years and that for women to 77.2 years; by 2050, they will increase to 73.0 and 80.2 years, respectively.

Thus, at present, it will be relevant to adopt a set of measures to increase the life expectancy of men and support elderly citizens left without a spouse, both in urban and rural areas, according to the report.
