BUENOS AIRES, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Sebastian Ferreira scored a second-half winner as Rosario Central showed its title credentials with a 2-1 home victory over Gimnasia in Argentina's Primera Division Apertura tournament on Saturday.
Victor Malcorra put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot but Rodrigo Castillo equalized with a 38th-minute strike.
Ferreira restored his side's lead with a close-range finish following a counterattack and Rosario Central defended solidly thereafter to secure its sixth win of the campaign.
Ariel Holan's men now lead the 10-team Group A standings with 21 points from 10 outings while Gimnasia is sixth, 10 points further back.
Elsewhere in Argentina's top flight on Saturday, River Plate drew 0-0 at Deportivo Riestra, Estudiantes was held to a 1-1 home draw by Newell's Old Boys, Sarmiento was held to a goalless home draw by Talleres Cordoba and Huracan prevailed 2-0 at home to Independiente.
