RIO DE JANEIRO, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's output of cereals, legumes and oilseeds is projected to hit a record high of 323.8 million tons this year, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics said Thursday.
This represents an increase of 10.6 percent, or 31.1 million tons, over the year of 2024, the agency said.
The agency attributed the increase to the production of soybean, the South American country's main agricultural product, which is expected to grow by 13.4 percent to reach 164.4 million tons this year.
Some 81 million hectares of land are to be cultivated in 2025, a rise of 2.4 percent compared to last year. ■
