BERLIN, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Joshua Kimmich has agreed a new deal with Bayern Munich, the German giants confirmed via the club's official website on Thursday.

The Germany international has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2029. The agreement comes after lengthy negotiations that had sparked speculation over Kimmich's future.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who is also Germany captain, has now committed his long-term future to the Bundesliga champions, joining the likes of Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala, who also extended their contracts earlier this year.

"At Bayern, I have the perfect environment to achieve my sporting ambitions. That was the decisive factor for me," Kimmich said in a statement released by the club. "At the moment, there is no better combination of teammates, coaching staff and club environment to be as successful as possible. I feel very comfortable here and my mission is far from over."

Since joining Bayern in June 2015, Kimmich has become one of the club's most influential players, winning eight Bundesliga titles, three German Cups and the UEFA Champions League in 2020. He has made 429 appearances for the club, scoring 43 goals.

The extension ends months of uncertainty and is an important step for Bayern as it continues to build its squad for the future.

The Bavarians lead the Bundesliga by eight points from defending champion Bayer Leverkusen, and face struggling Union Berlin in the league's 26th matchday on Saturday.
