KABUL, March 12 (Xinhua) -- The body of a seven-year-old boy, who went missing some 45 days ago in northern Afghanistan's Badakhshan province, was found on Monday, and his father demanded the authorities bring to justice those behind the heinous crime, local media reported on Tuesday.
The boy named Osman who went missing in the Argo district of Badakhshan province was brutally killed by unknown persons, and his body was discovered from nearby hilltops, his father told local television Tolonews on Tuesday night, adding he has no enmity with anyone.
This is the third heartbreaking incident of brutal attacks on children reported recently, according to locals.
Police have earlier reported arresting two persons on charges of murdering an 11-year-old child in the northern Takhar and another four-year-old child in the neighboring Kunduz province a couple of days ago.
In the meantime, police spokesman of Badakhshan province Ehsanullah Kamgar has vowed to make all-out efforts to bring those behind the murder of Osman to justice.
Although the rate of crimes has been reduced over the past more than three years in the impoverished Afghanistan, criminal elements still attempt to kidnap members of well-off families for ransom in parts of the post-war country. ■
