GARDEZ, Afghanistan, March 12 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and five others sustained injury, all members of the same family, as a lightning struck a house in the eastern Afghanistan's Paktia province on Tuesday night, provincial police spokesman Munib Zadran said Wednesday.
The natural disaster took place late Tuesday night in Sayed Karam district, leaving a 14-year-old boy dead and injuring five others, including four of his siblings and an aged man, the official added, saying all the injured have been shifted to a hospital in the provincial capital Gardez.
A similar incident claimed one life and injured four others in the Spinghar district of the eastern Nangarhar province a couple of months ago.
Parts of Afghanistan, including Paktia province and the national capital Kabul, have experienced snowfall and heavy rains with thunder and lightning over the past one month. ■
