KABUL, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Two commuters lost their lives and seven others were injured due to a road accident in eastern Afghanistan's Laghman province late Thursday, local media reported Friday.
The incident took place in the province's Khairo area along the Kabul-Jalalabad highway when a vehicle deviated from the road and overturned due to reckless driving, leaving two dead, including a woman, on the spot and seven others injured, Tolonews reported.
All the injured have been taken to the hospital, and some of them are said to be in critical condition.
Road accidents resulting in fatalities are prevalent in Afghanistan due to substandard road conditions, careless driving, rugged terrains, overloading of vehicles, overtaking, and overspending. ■
