BUCHAREST, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Romania has declared the Russian military, air, and naval attache in Bucharest, along with his deputy, personae non gratae for "engaging in activities that violate the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced Wednesday.
The Russian side was officially informed of the decision Wednesday during a meeting at MAE headquarters. Romania's Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu requested the summoning of the charge d'affaires ad interim of the Russian Embassy in Bucharest to formally communicate the expulsion, according to the statement.
In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry told the RIA Novosti news agency that Moscow will take corresponding measures.
"Russia will give an appropriate response," the ministry stated, quoted by RIA Novosti. ■
