MINSK, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has ratified the security guarantees agreement with Russia, the press service of the Belarusian leader said on Tuesday.
Lukashenko signed the law under which Belarus and Russia commit to support each other.
The treaty is aimed at strengthening the security of the parties within the framework of the common defense space of the Union State. The agreement establishes mutual obligations to take measures in the event of threats to security.
The fulfillment of obligations under the agreement involves collective resistance to unilateral restrictive measures of an economic and other nature, as well as the immediate provision of necessary military, military-technical, and other assistance.
The agreement was signed by the Presidents of Belarus and Russia, Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, on Dec. 6, 2024 in Minsk. ■
