YANGON, March 4 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized 1.02 million stimulant tablets in southern Myanmar's Bago region, the state-run daily The Mirror reported on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police conducted a search in Padaung township of Bago region on Feb. 28 and confiscated the drugs from a vehicle, the report said. Three suspects in the car were arrested, along with three additional suspects in another vehicle linked to the case, it added.

The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth 1.53 billion kyats (about 728,571 U.S. dollars), according to the report.

Two more suspects in connection with the case were later arrested in Pyay town of Bago region, it said.

A total of eight suspects have been arrested, and strict legal action will be taken against them as further investigations continue, the report added.
