SINGAPORE, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's health authorities received reports from the police regarding approximately 4,000 to 5,000 cases of possession or usage of e-vaporizers in 2023 and 2024, the Ministry of Health revealed on Monday.

Among these cases, only one involved a parent reporting their child for vaping, the ministry said in a reply to a parliamentary question about vaping cases.

In response, the individual was issued a warning rather than a composition fine and referred to the Health Promotion Board for counseling.

The ministry further encouraged concerned parents to contact the board's smoking and vaping cessation services, noting that no enforcement action would be taken against the children involved.

Singapore has imposed a strict ban on the importation, sale, distribution, possession, use, and purchase of emerging and imitation tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, vaporizers, and heat-not-burn tobacco products, to protect public health.
