ISLAMABAD, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Ten people including security personnel were injured when a bomb went off in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Friday, police officials said.
According to the police in the area, the incident happened in Quetta city of the province when an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded and injured security personnel and passersby, adding that the security personnel were passing through the market area when the blast occurred.
Police said that unknown miscreants planted an explosive device on the side of the road to target security forces before fleeing from the area.
Following the explosion, the rescue teams, police and security forces rushed to the site and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.
Police and security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to arrest the culprits behind the attack.
So far, no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack. ■
