MANILA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Eight people were killed after a fire razed a three-storey residential building in the Philippine capital on Thursday, the Bureau of Fire Protection said.

The bureau said the fire broke out early Thursday morning in Quezon City suburb while the occupants were fast asleep.

Eight people were trapped inside the building, while some reportedly escaped the fire by climbing to the roof and crawling to a neighbor's house.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
