SYDNEY, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Police in Australia's state of Queensland have commenced a homicide investigation after a woman died in a shooting on Wednesday afternoon.
Local police said in a statement on Wednesday night that initial investigations indicate that at around 1:50 p.m. local time, emergency services were called to North Toowoomba, over 100 kilometers west of the state's capital city of Brisbane, following reports of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, a 27-year-old woman was located with multiple serious injuries, said the police.
The woman was transported to Toowoomba Hospital, where she was declared deceased.
Multiple people who were at the location at the time of the incident are currently assisting police with their enquires.
Investigations into the incident and efforts to locate any outstanding people are ongoing. ■
