VIENTIANE, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Journalists and media professionals from Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam gathered in Lao capital Vientiane for a regional forum aimed at mastering digital technology tools for timely news production and improving reporting skills on green issues.
The forum, titled "Green Issues Reporting and Digital Literacy," took place on Tuesday, Lao News Agency reported on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, Savankhone Razmountry, president of the Lao Journalists' Association under the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, stated, "The main aim of the forum is to provide Lao journalists and media professionals with an opportunity to learn more about the use of information communication technology globally, regionally, and within Laos, as it has a direct impact on press and media work."
He emphasized that Lao journalists and media personnel must adapt to both the current and future digital eras.
Also speaking at the meeting, Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Phosy Keomanivong highlighted the crucial role of the media in the digital age. He explained that the media has both positive and negative impacts on society, particularly as communication systems continue to evolve rapidly. ■
