SINGAPORE, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Singapore has introduced advisory guidelines for cloud services and data centers to minimize service disruptions and mitigate their impact on the economy and society.
The guidelines, published by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), encouraged cloud service providers to adopt measures in areas such as security testing, user access controls, proper data governance, and disaster recovery planning.
For data center operators, the recommendations included implementing business continuity policies, enforcing security controls, and continuously reviewing and improving operational processes.
Digital services such as online banking, ride-hailing, e-commerce, and digital identity rely on the uninterrupted availability and resilience of cloud services and data centers, the IMDA said, noting that disruptions can lead to "significant inconveniences to our daily lives, and adversely impact our economy and society."
The guidelines complemented the forthcoming Digital Infrastructure Act, which will regulate systemically important digital infrastructure, including major cloud service providers and data center operators, the IMDA said. ■
