BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Barracas Central continued their impressive start to Argentina's Primera Division Apertura season with a 2-0 home victory over Newell's Old Boys on Monday.
Jhonatan Candia gave the hosts the lead in the second minute when he combined with Siro Rosane before slotting a low shot past Keylor Navas.
Manuel Duarte doubled the advantage in the 91st minute with a long-range drive on the counterattack that left Marcos Ledesma with no chance.
The result leaves Barracas seventh in the 15-team Group A standings with 12 points from seven outings. Newell's has just one win so far this campaign.
Ruben Insua's men have now gone six games without a defeat, a run that dates back to a 3-1 loss to Racing on the opening day of the season.
In other Primera Division fixtures on Monday, Tigre won 1-0 at home to Banfield and Argentinos Juniors was held to a goalless home draw by Independiente Rivadavia. ■
