NEW DELHI, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- As the rescue teams are racing against time to bring out the eight workers trapped for over 48 hours in a collapsed tunnel in the southern Indian state of Telangana, a local official on Monday warned that their survival chances are "very, very remote."
Telangana Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, who is overseeing the rescue operations, said a massive pileup of mud and water hinders the rescue mission.
The collapse took place Saturday in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel near Domalapenta in Nagarkurnool district, about 207 km south of Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana. ■
