LONDON, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Liverpool moved 11 points top of the Premier League on Sunday after a 2-0 win away to Manchester City.

Arne Slot's side took full advantage of Arsenal's defeat at home to West Ham on Saturday to open a lead at the top of the table that looks almost impossible to overturn.

Mohamed Salah put Liverpool ahead against a City side without Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish, scoring with his left foot from inside the area.

The Egyptian then helped set up Dominik Szoboszlai for Liverpool's second after 37 minutes, and Liverpool held on comfortably for a massive and probably season-defining win.

Jarrod Bowen's 44th-minute diving header condemned Arsenal to a 1-0 defeat at home to West Ham on Saturday, with Arsenal producing a poor display, which also saw substitute Myles Lewis-Skelly sent off in the 73rd minute.

Sunday's second game saw Newcastle United in the fast lane at home to Nottingham Forest in the first half of their 4-3 win.

Callum Hudson-Odoi put Forest in front after just six minutes, but Newcastle hit back with four goals before halftime as Lewis Miley, Jacob Murphy and two goals in two minutes from Alexander Isak turned the game on its head.

Newcastle relaxed after the break and Nikola Milenkovic pulled a goal back for the visitors before Ryan Yates's 90th-minute effort produced more nerves than had looked likely at halftime at St James' Park.

Manchester United came back from 2-0 down away to Everton, with goals from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte after Beto and Abdoulaye Doucoure had put the home side 2-0 ahead.

Everton thought they had a penalty deep in injury time when Ashley Young went down under a challenge from Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt, but after consulting with the VAR, referee Andrew Madley changed his decision.

Chelsea's poor run continued as Aston Villa signings Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio combined twice for Rashford to provide two assists to the Spaniard in the 57th minute and 90th minute after Enzo Fernandez had given Chelsea an early lead.

Matheus Cunha continued his scoring run with the only goal as Wolverhampton Wanderers won 1-0 away to Bournemouth, who had to play for over an hour with 10 men after Illia Zabarnyi was sent off for a high tackle.

Wolves climbs five clear of the relegation zone after Tottenham thrashed Ipswich Town 4-1 with Brennan Johnson scoring twice for the visitor, along with Djed Spence and Dejan Kulusevski.

Crystal Palace won 2-0 away to Fulham with a Joachim Andersen own goal and a second-half effort from Daniel Munoz, while Brighton cruised to an easy win at home to Southampton, with Joao Pedro, Georginio Rutter, Kaoru Mitoma and Jack Hinshelwood all scoring.

On Friday night, Brentford won 4-0 away to Leicester City, who has lost 10 of their last 11 Premier League games and not scored at home in over two months.
