CAIRO, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League (AL) on Thursday warned against any steps that could harm the unity of Sudan or divide the country under any pretext, the AL said in a statement.
The statement stressed the pan-Arab body's continuous efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis, which are based on preserving Sudan's sovereignty and territorial integrity and maintaining its national institutions.
Sudan recalled its ambassador from Kenya on Thursday in protest against Nairobi's hosting of meetings that involved the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied political forces, Sudan's official SUNA news agency reported.
Sudan's opposition groups, including the RSF, held talks in Nairobi on Tuesday to sign a political pact, which analysts expect could lead to the formation of an alternative administrative structure in RSF-controlled areas in the country.
The RSF has been at war with the Sudanese Armed Forces for nearly two years, resulting in significant casualties and the displacement of millions. ■
