NEW DELHI, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Newly-elected legislator Rekha Gupta, belonging to the country's main ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took oath of office and secrecy as Delhi's Chief Minister on Thursday at a grand ceremony held in the Indian capital city.
Delhi's Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena administered the oath to the new Chief Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, top federal cabinet ministers, chief ministers of several states, and thousands of people attended the oath-taking ceremony held at Ramleela Ground.
A first-time legislator, Rekha Gupta has been in the BJP for nearly three decades. She is the fourth woman chief minister of Delhi. ■
