BEIRUT, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Joseph Aoun affirmed on Wednesday that Lebanon will spare no effort in utilizing diplomatic channels and support from Arab and allied nations to liberate its land from Israeli occupation.
He emphasized that the challenges facing the region, particularly those confronting the Palestinian people, can only be addressed through a unified Arab stance, according to the National News Agency,
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation of Arab ambassadors led by Palestinian Ambassador Ashraf Dabbour, Aoun stressed that no Arab nation is immune to the repercussions of events unfolding in any part of the region.
Dabbour commended Aoun's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and Lebanon's continued hospitality toward Palestinians. He affirmed that Palestinians will always stand by Lebanon while respecting its sovereignty.
Speaking on behalf of the Arab ambassadors in attendance, Dabbour emphasized their nations' commitment to supporting Lebanon during this critical period. He also praised the progress made in fulfilling constitutional milestones, including the election of a president and the formation of a new government.
Several other Arab ambassadors echoed these sentiments, reaffirming their countries' backing for Lebanon's recovery and expressing hope that it will reclaim its influential role in the region.
In response, Aoun expressed gratitude for Arab nations' support and highlighted the contributions of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt through the five-member group, which played a key role in resolving Lebanon's presidential vacancy.
The group, composed of representatives from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, France, and the United States, was formed in 2023 to help mediate Lebanon's prolonged political deadlock.
Aoun also stressed that Lebanon will not serve as a platform for attacks against its Arab and allied partners. ■
