SEOUL, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Five domestic and foreign automakers in South Korea will voluntarily recall some 76,000 vehicles for manufacturing defects, the transport ministry said Wednesday.
Kia Corp. will recall 35,571 units of two different models, including Niro electric vehicle (EV) for faulty airbag systems, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
BMW Korea will recall 24,371 units of 28 models, such as the 528i sedan, for problems in the cooling pump wire connector that pose a fire risk.
Software errors in transformer and hybrid control system prompted a recall in 8,056 units of two models, including Arkana hybrid sport utility vehicle (SUV) from Renault Korea Motors.
Tesla Korea will repair the electric power assist steering (EPAS) system's software errors in 7,781 units of Model Y.
Jaguar Land Rover Korea will take corrective actions on 603 units of four models, including the Defender 110 P300 SUV, due to software efforts in the touch screen.
Vehicle owners can visit repair and service centers to replace the faulty parts free of charge. ■
