KABUL, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with leading local aid agencies to support families of returnees across Afghanistan, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The total sum for the signed MoUs reached over 1.7 million U.S. dollars, benefiting nearly 32,000 returnees in the western provinces of Herat, Badghis, Farah and southern Kandahar, the statement said.
The agencies will provide food and cash to the returnees, it said.
The ministry's data showed that over the past month, assistance including food and non-food items has been provided to 38,540 returnees and impoverished families in 17 provinces. ■
