ANKARA, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye's Defense Ministry said on Wednesday its forces had "neutralized" nine Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) members in a cross-border operation in northern Iraq.
The militants were targeted in the Hakurk and Gara regions, the ministry said in a statement, without specifying when the operation took place.
"We will continue to strike terror targets effectively," the ministry added.
Turkish authorities often use the term "neutralize" to indicate that militants have been killed, captured, or surrendered.
The PKK, designated a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union, has waged an insurgency against the Turkish state for decades.
Turkish security forces regularly conduct cross-border operations in northern Iraq targeting PKK hideouts and bases. ■
