WINDHOEK, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Namibian women's national football team, 'the Brave Gladiators' will face Eswatini with high spirits and determination despite some absentees in its first match of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.
Namibia's head coach Woody Jacobs announced the final 21-player squad that will travel to Eswatini, but his side has to do without key players Zenatha Coleman, Vewe Kotjipati, and Twelikondjela Amukuto.
The Namibia senior women's national team will face Eswatini away at the Somhlolo National Stadium on Feb. 21 with the return leg scheduled on Feb. 26 at the Dobsonville Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.
"We intend to go all out in this round, the team is well prepared and in high spirits, the players are above the bar in terms of fitness levels because they have been playing in the FNB Women Super League," Jacobs said.
"We are confident in the capabilities of the remaining players especially the old players and the experience they will bring on the match day," he added.
Meanwhile, the first round of the qualifiers will take place from February 19 to 26, and the second round will kick off from October 20 to 28. ■
