KHOST, Afghanistan, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Two villagers lost their lives due to a mudslide in eastern Afghanistan's Khost province on Monday, provincial police spokesman Tahir Ehrar said Tuesday.
The ill-fated villagers were busy on a hilltop in Zazai Maidan area Monday afternoon when the accident occurred, killing both on the spot, the official said without providing more details.
Police reached the area within hours and with the support of locals recovered the bodies, which were then handed over to their families, the official added.
A similar accident claimed the lives of two gold miners in the northern Badakhshan province last week. ■
