CAIRO, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides on Monday discussed in Cairo the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and bilateral cooperation.

Al-sisi said Egypt is working on an integrated proposal for the reconstruction of the Strip, which ensures that Palestinians are not displaced or have to leave their land, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.

The two leaders reaffirmed that the establishment of a Palestinian state along the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only guarantee for achieving permanent peace in the region.

The two presidents met on the sidelines of the Egypt Energy Show 2025. They discussed ways to reinforce cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including the production, liquefaction, and transportation of natural gas to serve the interests of the two countries and Europe.
