YANGON, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized over 1.4 million stimulant tablets in Mandalay region and Kayin state, the state-run daily Myanma Alinn reported on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle in Thazi township of Mandalay region on Feb. 6, and confiscated 500,000 stimulant tablets along with two suspects.

The next day, 990,000 stimulant tablets were seized at a highway express station in Hpa-an township of Kayin state and two more suspects were arrested, the report said.

Further investigations led to the arrest of three additional suspects involved in drug trafficking in Myawaddy township of Kayin state, it added.

The seized drugs had a street value of over 3.7 billion kyats (about 1.76 million U.S. dollars), it said.

The suspects have been charged under the country's laws, and a further investigation was ongoing, it added.
