TOKYO, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- With two months remaining before the opening of the Osaka Expo on April 13, organizers are launching new promotional campaigns to boost attendance as ticket sales have been sluggish, local media reported.
As of Feb. 5, only 7.74 million presale tickets had been sold, just over half of the 14 million target.
To address the issue, organizers are exploring the option of allowing visitors to purchase tickets on the day of their visit, national broadcaster NHK reported.
Starting Thursday, a new campaign will offer a 10 percent discount on Expo presale tickets for those who purchase admission to Universal Studios Japan through its official website.
Additionally, nationwide commercial facilities will release a promotional video featuring the popular character Hello Kitty and the Expo's official mascot to highlight the event's attractions.
The World Expo 2025 is scheduled to be held from April 13 to Oct. 13 on the artificial island of Yumeshima in Osaka Bay. ■
