THE HAGUE, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Feyenoord has dismissed head coach Brian Priske with immediate effect, citing inconsistent results and a lack of chemistry as the primary reasons.

The decision comes just two days before the team's crucial home match against AC Milan in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs. The return leg is set for February 18 in Milan.

General and technical director Dennis te Kloese acknowledged the difficulty of the decision but emphasized the club's need for stability and progress.

"While Brian achieved some impressive results, particularly in the Champions League, the team's performances have been too inconsistent in recent months. Unfortunately, we have not seen the structural progress we expected," he stated in a press release.

Feyenoord currently sits fifth in the Dutch Eredivisie, and was last week knocked out of the KNVB Cup by PSV.

In addition to Priske, Feyenoord has also parted ways with assistant coaches Lukas Babalola Andersson and Bjorn Hamberg. Youth coach Pascal Bosschaart will take over on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is appointed.
