BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- A first-half goal from Nicolas Oroz gave Argentinos Juniors a 1-0 away victory over Union Santa Fe in Argentina's Primera Division Apertura tournament on Friday.
Oroz put his side ahead in the sixth minute when he latched onto Jose Herrera's pass before firing a left-footed shot into the bottom-right corner.
The visitors missed a chance to double their lead as Alan Lescano's tame penalty attempt was saved by goalkeeper Matias Tagliamonte.
But it mattered little as Argentinos Juniors defended stoically to register their third win in four games.
The Buenos Aires outfit now leads Group A with 10 points while Union is 14th with just one point so far.
Meanwhile, Central Cordoba climbed to second in the 15-team group as goals from Leonardo Heredia and Jose Florentin gave them a 2-0 home win over Newell's Old Boys.
In other fixtures on Friday, Estudiantes drew 2-2 at Independiente Rivadavia, Huracan won 2-0 at home to Tigre, and Banfield was held to a 1-1 home draw by Belgrano. ■
