KIEV, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine is working on launching the transit of natural gas from Azerbaijan to Europe, the European Pravda media outlet reported Friday, citing Heorhiy Tykhyi, the spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
"The matter concerns specifically Azerbaijani gas and Ukraine's participation in its transportation," Tykhyi told reporters at a media briefing.
On Jan. 1, Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian gas to Europe following the expiration of a five-year transportation agreement.
On Jan. 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky suggested that his country could use its gas transportation system to supply gas from Azerbaijan to Europe. ■
