RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Reigning Brazilian and South American champions Botafogo has made an offer to sign Benfica winger Benjamin Rollheiser, according to media reports.
Botafogo submitted a 10-million-euro bid for the 24-year-old after an initial proposal to secure him on loan was rejected by the Portuguese club, Globo Esporte reported on Wednesday.
It added that Botafogo's Brazilian rivals Santos was also interested in signing the Argentine.
Rollheiser has made 27 appearances for Benfica, scoring two goals and providing one assist, since joining the club from Estudiantes in July last year.
Brazil's summer transfer window opened on January 3 and is due to close on February 28. ■
