NEW DELHI, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- A truck driver was killed after Indian army personnel fired upon his vehicle in Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said Thursday.
The driver refused to stop his vehicle at a checkpost, the Indian army said.
The firing incident took place Wednesday night at Sangrama Chowk in Baramulla district, about 42 km northwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.
Reports said the truck was laden with apple boxes. The Indian army said the fully loaded truck was sent to the nearest police station.
The army further noted that a detailed search of the truck in police custody is underway, and an investigation into the suspect's background is in progress. ■
